Learning is what most adults will do for a living in the 21st century.
—— Bob Perelman
Learning procreates knowledge and that the knowledge determines the future of the world. I am a person enjoying learning processes and the challenges. I have learned photography, digital painting, graphics editing, web developing, leather craft, cooking, and other activities. All of this learning continually makes me excited, which also sharpens my skills and changes my perspective. Every acquisition has a different kind of requiring patterns; through those patterns, I earn different life experience and inspiration. The more I am deep in learning new things, the more I feel myself up-and-coming. It is an era of living with technology, so we need to keep learning for a better life.
After choosing instructional technology as my major in the University of Colorado Denver, I felt overwhelmed. It never occurred to me that the outside world was so astonishing, which made me realize that I am like the frog in well who never see the outside world. As my country’s technology industry plays an important role in the global economy, I thought that our technology is in head start position. However, in education, we mostly still remain in the traditional teaching methods with little technology involved. For instance, the podcast, video cast, and other media-tech, which are as normal as usual in United States are not popular in Taiwan and many even do not heard about them. With the lack of these technologies, it goes without saying that our development and progress decline.
At the beginning of deciding the field of Instructional Technology Design, I faltered in my choice and wondered if I might get into the wrong world, and sink ultimately. Now, I can proudly say that I am in the right way. Since the advent of 21th century, technology has made great changes world-wide. In many countries, digital designers and instructional designers have great needs: for instance, searching on the Internet, a lot of people are asking how to learn more quickly and effectively. Companies for decreasing the cost and avoiding waste need a designer to analysis and the government is recruiting designers and promoting online learning resources constantly. I am glad that I can be in this field that changed my views along the way and offered me opportunities to learn new technology for helping people.
